Character Name: Marshal Sam Cain

Marshal Sam Cain — with a keen sense of justice and a quick draw — managed to keep law and some sort of order in the little town of Sweetwater. But he was not a man without a past — when his wife died at the hands of hired guns, Sam was determined to vindicate her death.

When Sam wasn’t breaking up fights (or starting them) he courted the Sweetwater waystation owner Emma Shannon (Melissa Leo). And Sam could always count on the Riders when he got in trouble. The Marshal married Emma after the first season of the show and received a promotion. He was named territorial marshall and passed his badge to Teaspoon Hunter. Brett Cullen appeared in the first season only of “The Young Riders.”
