I did meet Brett to a friend dinner ( small one ) evening here in Melbourne, Australia…we did spent some time to talk about his work and he is a very nice man and he did like ( hope so ) my sea food spaghetti.

Howdy from Houston!

Wow, it was a long time since I had seen Brett Cullen in person, but I tell you what? He hasn’t changed all that much except his hair was much shorter! HA! We went to the same high school, and he graduated with my sister’s class (1974). He didn’t know me from Adam per say, as I was one of those very “shy” young ladies back when. But, I knew who he was, and I’ve watched his career. His blonde hair was much much longer back when, but he still moves his head to the side – like getting it out of his face as he did back when.

Brett is who he is, I believe, cuz of his roots! Thanks Brett, for accommodating me with a photo and having such a nice talk at the reunion!

He’s still very much admired and we’re all proud of him! So just remember, his biggest fans are still here in the wonderful city of Houston, Texas!

I am now a sophomore in high school and not a day goes by where I don’t think of that amazing day on set with the guys, Brett and his wonderful wife!! Brett and his wife are some of the nicest and most generous people I’ve ever met! Whenever my mom and I see Brett on the tv or in a movie we immediately go back to the time when he lived in Richmond and when we got to go on the set of LEGACY. We think of them often and hope that all is going well with him and his family.

He looked familiar (The Replacements) and we struck up a conversation about the golf tournament on the t.v. at the bar. I am writing this because I travel a lot for work and I don’t meet many people that come across as being really quality human beings and real people. It took Brett a while to even mention what he did. Once he did I picked his brain a bit and could tell right away how passionate he was about his craft and his family.

I mentioned that I saw The Sharks in San Francisco earlier last year and Brett told me of his friendship and time in college with Dennis Quaid. I believe he was headed to Montana to meet his family the following week at Dennis’ ranch.

The night sticks in my memory because the band WAR was in concert in the upstairs bar. I just wanted to chime in on the website to let everyone know that it is rare when you meet someone (especially an artist) that is as humble, down to earth and family oriented as Brett. He is a genuine human being and a humble artist…a sellout he will never be.

I live in southwest Missouri. I met Brett in Austin, Texas on June 21, 2003. A girl friend from Ohio and I flew to Austin for the Dennis Quaid Celebrity Golf Tournament, which was a benefit for several children’s charities. One of the special events, which was held at the host hotel, the Renaissance, was a gala called “A Starry, Starry Night.” It was held on the large patio area of the hotel. There were hundreds of people there, and we enjoyed a nice buffet meal and entertainment, which included a charity auction and live music. Dennis Quaid performed with a band (not his own band, The Sharks) and several other celebrities also performed with the band. Brett was obviously there as a friend of Dennis’s. As we all know, they made the movie “Something to Talk About” together, and my friend said Brett told her that he and Dennis had gone to school together, so they’ve been friends a number of years.

Here’s how we met Brett: During the course of the evening, my friend noted that Brett was seated at the table next to us. We introduced ourselves to him. He was so gracious; he came over to our table and talked with us for a while.

It was a typical hot Texas night and I eventually got myself a clean cloth napkin which I then carried around and used as a sweat mop rag, haha. Several times Brett borrowed my napkin to mop his own face and head. At one point, he stood in front of the bandstand and fanned the band with my napkin. That was so cute and funny!

Brett seemed like a really nice guy, and he’s very good-looking to boot! He has a great sense of humor and does not seem to have the “big head” complex that so many other Hollywood actors have. We laughed together and had a fun time that night. I feel blessed to have met him in person.

Eric and his wife Jenn met Brett at the Wayne-Dalton Celebrity Golf Championship at Willow’s Run in Redmond, WA back in June of 1998. On the day this photo was taken, Brett was paired with Kevin Dobson and C. Thomas Howell and was starting the day in 5th place (out of 50). Not bad! That’s Eric standing with Brett.

Brett made quite the impression on me and 11 years later, I’m still intrigued. I met him back in 1990 at the Celebrity Rodeo up in Woodland Park, CO. He posed for a photo with me and left me wanting more. That fall, I traveled down to Arizona to visit a friend of mine, and decided I had to go to Tucson to see if I could find the Young Riders set. Well, being young and determined, I did find it and saw that it was a closed set. However, I saw a couple of people getting ready to leave so I followed them all the way back up to Tucson and begged them to let me come onto the set. They were very gracious and told me to follow them back down and tell whoever stopped me that I was with them. I was thrilled. I was finally going to get the chance to meet Brett again.

Well, turns out he was no longer with the show. So all my efforts were for nothing. I can’t exactly say that, because I had a great time hanging out on the set for two days. I had brought the photo that I had taken with Brett in Colorado and a very sweet gentleman told me he was a friend of Brett’s and would make sure the photo got to Brett to sign. Well he did, and Brett did sign it. And the rest is history.

From that day on he always was prompt and warmly addressed me as “Mr. Mayor.” He was very instrumental in having the “LEGACY” production company do a Christmas program for Richmond-area underprivileged children. The production manager dressed as Santa. Brett gave out gifts and entertained the 50 children at the main set location. Brett was visited with at the Graffitti Bar, where he enjoyed California foods and had great rapport with the owner. Brett was very proud of that splendid young child of his and his wife. On sets we spoke, me as grandparent, and they as new parents. Brett was a real fun guy on the sets…using gun trickery, rope twirling and acting out events of the day and mimicking other’s mannerisms. Brett was continually counseling and inquiring various directors to consider his suggestions and improving scenes effectiveness. He clowned and playfully toyed with the cast, including being a parent influence for that darling young actress, Sarah Rayne, who played Lexy.

Brett was involved with many activities in this community. Brett, bravo!! From your “Mayor.”
